Media Children's House is a private Montessori school located in Aston, PA (Delaware County). Founded in 1976, MCH offers programs for children ranging from 18 months through elementary school. As educators, we view each child as an individual with a unique personality and learning style. MCH provides an individualized learning environment that helps foster a life-long love of learning by making education engaging, substantive, and fun!
MCH follows in the footsteps of Dr. Maria Montessori. The first children's house was introduced in the early 1900's by Dr. Montessori where the hands-on learning approach was developed. The children's house provides an environment in which children develop a respect for one's self and others. It is with the qualities of respect and active participation from each member of our school community that MCH bases its philosophy. Dr. Montessori was the first to introduce the child-sized classroom. The room is orderly and filled with enriching materials for the child to explore. A multi-sensory environment invites the child to a world of discovery! Activities in self-help skills, sensorial application, mathematics, language and culture are explored daily. Children work independently during work time, in areas of their interest. Teachers maintain daily records and are well trained observers.
